With the Name of Allaah, and in Him we seek assistance, and the praise is due to Allaah, Lord of the Worlds. The praise is due to Allaah, the One who compels the hearts that are despondent for His sake, and the One who forgives the sins of the sinners by His Virtue. I testify that there is no deity worthy of worship besides Allaah alone, without any associate, and there is nothing comparable to Him. And I testify that Muhammad is His servant and Messenger. He sent him (sallallaahu 'alayhi wa sallam) with the guidance and the True Religion, so as to make it apparent over all other religions. And He gave him the choice of being either a Prophet-King, or a Slave-Messenger, so he chose the station of servitude ('uboodiyyah), along with the Messengership. [1]

When I was researching this, I was surprised to see how few sources we have which encourage salat and so many that instruct. Especially in light of the fact that so many of our brothers and sisters have abandoned the salat --- May Allah guide us all.

From the morals and manners of the Salaf would be their persistent practice of the Night-prayer whether in summer or winter. They would act by the advise of the Messenger of Allah :

The Believers will prosper. Those who are humble and submissive in their prayers (khaashi'oon).

Praying salâh and fulfilling its rights is one thing; praying on time is something else. But praying in the Mosque in Jamâ‛ah (congregation) – how much importance have you ever given that?
